Old Grandads bourbon turned me into a fruit cake lover.

  • 6 Tablespoons Butter
  • 5 Cups crushed vanilla wafer crumbs
  • 3/4 cup red candied cherries halved (dried)
  • 3/4 cups greed candied cherries halved (dried)
  • 1/2 cup candied pineapple chopped
  • 3/4 cup chopped dates
  • 1 cup whole pecans
  • 1 14oz. can sweetend condensed milk
  • 11/2 cup Old Grandads bourbon whiskey

  • Serves 30

Melt 6 T. butter in jelly roll pan in 350 degre oven. Once melted, remove pan from oven. Pour crushed vanilla wafers over the butter. Mix together with a fork and press evenly over pan. On top of the crumbs arrange cherries, pineapple, dates and pecans. Mix together the sweetened condensed milk and 1/2 cup bourbon. Pour evenly over top of fruit. After experimenting a little, I determined that an additional 1 cup of bourbon drizzled over the top of the above was what it took to achieve the desired taste. You may want more or less either straight from the bottle or baked on. It's your choice..... Bake 45-60 minutes until bars are golden brown.
